Major Renovations To Be Completed in 2015.
$16.5 Million Dollar Budget.
Status: Schedule to be Completed in 2015
Scope: The project calls for the building, which opened as the Pizitz Department Store in 1976 before being turned into a building for different businesses and offices called One Court Square, to become one of the jewels of Montgomery’s redeveloped downtown.
The new library, which will replace the Juliette Hampton Morgan Memorial Library on High Street, will be an education- and technology-based facility featuring state-of-the-art, high-tech tools to help patrons access electronic materials as well as nontraditional library programming.
The library and museum will be on the first and second floors of the Questplex. When facing the lobby, which will look out onto the area of the Court Square fountain, the library will be to the right and the museum will be to the left. There’s also space on the first floor for a vendor such as a coffee shop.
Commercial space primarily will be on the third floor, with some on the second floor and some on the first floor oriented toward Lee Street.
